As you may know at the weekend it was the
summer rally, 17 youth members attended with 14 been Thank you to all
of you. From Amy and

PICS FROM YOUTH RALLY JULY 2009 PICS FROM THE WINTER MEET 2009 Evesham 09 Bank holiday weekend,Hi de Hi themed, yellow coats and nobbly knee competition were part of the program for the weekend. But we think the youth and C.C.J had a pretty cool thing to do.Our youth leaders had arranged for us to go canoeing. The canoe club, part of the camping and caravanning club were with us for the weekend, with their canoes and kyaks. There were 28 of us altogether , they split us up into small groups of 8 or 9,then we put on our safety helmets and buoyancy aid we were then fitted into our boats. The boats were placed into the water and we climbed in,until we were all floating on the river,we felt nervous and exited but slowly we all began to paddle up the river a bit wobbily at first,Dave one of the canoe club was in his boat with us Tim and Mandy were in two other canoes for safety which was good because Laura ended up in the the water. This was because they got all the boats together like a raft and Callum Gromit was chosen to stand up in his and walk around the other boats when he got to my boat (Laura’s)he didn’t step on it properly and the boat tipped up and i fell out the water was freezing ,but i didn’t get my hair wet.I had to get out of the water into the canoe with Tim which was not easy and i ended up head first in the boat. That was the end of my trip down the river.Katie and the others paddled back and got out.It was the next groups turn. Everyone who took part got a certificate which was given to us at coffee morning we had all passed level one.We would like to thank Dave,Gail,Tim and Mandy for for giving us the chance to do this as we had never done it before and we don’t think many of the others had. This was a brilliant thing to do and we would love to do it again if the chance ever came up.

Wrote By: Amy Bishop Hello my name is Amy Bishop and I have been in the N.W.D.A. section of the Camping Club all my life because of my mum and my Nan and Grandad have always camped with them. I am 12 now and I have just joined the CCY, since I was 8 I have had the opportunity to sleep in a area with lots of other people my age but I could never quite sleep in there. Now I am in the youth and I have changed in my self a lot. On the 9th of May 2008 I took part on my first youth rally, and I never thought it would be so fantastic. On the Saturday we all took part in lots of different sports and races which I have never done before. The disco on the Saturday night was amazing because of the groovy music. At the weekend I felt so free away from family and school but I did miss them all. Thank you to the Youth leaders (Andy, Ruth, Shaun and Caz) who really helped me get into the youth and also took and looked after me on the summer youth rally. Now I can not wait till the National because it will be bigger and even more fantastic. A member of the camping club (N.W.D.A) youth

Well what can I say, a fantastically exhausting weekend was had by all. We started the weekend by heading off in a minibus with 7 of North Warwick's youth members, we also picked up a couple of other central counties youth along the way and met the rest of our region, a very respectable 28 in total, along with the other ten regions in the north east about 4 hours later.
Spirits were high throughout the journey and as we set up in the dark, the youth then all raced to the disco to meet up with old and new friends and although the music finished at 11 o’clock the youth did not, partying hard right though til the early hours.
Saturday was an early start with the opening ceremony followed by the sports, where we were responsible for organising our region’s teams – 5 aside football, volleyball and netball, with the North Warwick's youth entering into all events enthusiastically, some of which for the first time. However rain stopped play at lunch, which ment a late finish, however well worth the wait as we finished semi finalists in the volleyball, and runners up in both the netball and football, with the mighty Yorkshire reigning supreme (BOOOOOO).
We then cooked a well earnt spag bol for our ravenous youth, which went down really well. They then all went off to dress for the nights disco with an army theme, and boy they get into the spirit of things. We could feel another late night coming on.
A wet Sunday morning was another early start with the Austin trophy sports, however the rain did not dampen our spirits, as we came a brilliant third in difficult weather conditions.
Finally came the closing ceremony and a sad fairwell to friends and a really enjoyable weekend. Our thanks go to North East Region for a well organised weekend, David Wilkes National Youth Chairman and Central Counties RYLO, Paul and Chris Bratt, Coventry Youth Leaders and Karen and Chris, Trent Valley Youth Yeader, but most of all to the YOUTH. They were a real credit to us and we are very proud of them.

Slovakia FICC 2007 Report
We arrived at Donnington service station at 1:00am and met up with two of our friends. The coach arrived at around 1:30am and we made sure we had the back seats.
We then made our way down to Dover and picked up people from two other regions on the way.
Once on the ferry we met up with the other coach from the UK. After the ferry crossing we still had one and a half day of travelling on the road. This journey was very funny as faces were drawn on with permanent marker pens and the boys legs were waxed.
When we finally arrived in Slovakia we put our tent up and went for a look around. We were staying in a complex with bars (of course we weren’t drinking!!), hotels and an Aqua park. Shortly after arriving we took part in the opening ceremony. There was a parade with Slovakian dancers and all different countries came together for the opening ceremony. We then went to the disco until 1:00am and started to meet up with new friends.
We woke up the following morning at 8:30am and sorted ourselves out. We then went into the town with our friend Claire where we found a supermarket and had a look around. We went back to the complex and just chilled out for the afternoon. That evening we went to Claire’s hotel room to get ready for the Disco. We put on our glad rags and went to the disco where it went on until 2:00am.
The next morning we had to get up really early as we were going into Bratislava. We only wanted to go there to get a McDonalds. We had to look at castles on the way to the town, which was very, very boring. The tour guide got muted and abused until we got to where we wanted to go. We then returned back to the complex to get ready for the Saturday night disco, which went on until 3:00am.
The next day was when the sports activities took place. First it was the volleyball, which Great Britain won. The volleyball lasted for most of the day and the weather was really nice so it was nice to sit and watch our friends win their matches. After the volleyball it was time for the football matches. One of the Great Britain players was kicked in the face, which added some drama to the match, but he was ok in the end. Italy won the football but it was ok as our friend was put on to play in the last minute of the GB game and scored a great goal – Well Done Pinoc!!
After the football we went to get ready for the night’s disco. Yet again we had a brilliant night and the theme for dressing up was Pirates. The disco went on until 4:00am and some of our friends had to leave around this time to catch their flights back home.
The next morning we had to get up stupidly early to begin our journey home. It took a while to load everyone’s luggage onto the coach but we were soon on our way home. The coach journey was relaxing as everyone was so tired and before we knew it we arrived back in Rugby at 3:15pm on Tuesday. All in all the week was very eventful and amusing. We had a great time and cannot wait for the next meet. Thanks to everyone involved.
Harriet And Nikki
Harriet and I got on the
mini bus with Dave and Marlene at 5.00pm. We set off up the M 1 to go
and collect people from Donnington service station. We had to collect
3 people who were from Leicester D.A, 4 people from Nottingham D.A and
2 people from Trent Valley D.A.. By the time we got to the camp site
which was at St ive's in Cambridge it was near enough 11 pm. So we had
to put our tent up in the pitch black! In the end Harriet and I got
some boys from our region to help us. We went to bed late that night!
The next morning we had to get up early as we had to take
part in the sports. Our football team got through to the semis but got
beat . Our volleyball team got beaten by Cambrian and Wyvern and our
netball team got beat by Southern region. In the afternoon we
went for a trip into Cambridge, I thought I knew where I was going
because I had been there before but I got us lost. I started to panic
thinking we were going to miss the bus but luckily we made it back
there on time. When we got back to the site we had some food from the
chip van. That night was an Hawaiian night so people were dressing up
. We went to the disco, had a dance and got to know more people. We
sat outside our tent for a bit with some people and then went to bed.
The next morning Dave Wilkes came around with a Steele pan banging it
to wake us up. It was annoying! That morning we had to do the races. I
don't think we did too well; but its the taking part that counts!. We
packed up our tents and went to the closing ceremony then we got into
the mini bus and went home. In the mini bus some of us slept and
others reminisced about the weekend.
We all really enjoyed the weekend and look forward to the next
youth meet.

On Thursday morning we all met up and got on the mini bus together , we were all excited as we had been talking about this weekend for a long time. We stopped off to pick up some other people from our region and saw some old faces that we knew. As we arrived on site on Thursday afternoon there was a lot of people around putting up tents catching up with old friends and greeting new ones. We pitched our tents and got ready for the first night of partying. We all got dressed up and had a great first night which was held in the school hall.
Friday we had been given the chance to go to light water valley which was the nearby theme park so we choose to go and had a fun day there just relaxing and going on all the rides, then on the night there was a school disco which went on into the early hours of the morning. Saturday day we went on a coach to York centre, as we was all under age we had no chance of going on a bar crawl so we went on a café crawl! There was another great disco on the night and by this time we were all quite tired. Sunday was a relaxing day and everyone just chilled ready for the final night, we had our final disco which was really good and went on until about 4 in the morning! Monday we had to pack up early and get on the minibus for 11.30, which wasn’t too good as we were running very low on sleep! On the way back most of us slept and talked about the fun times we had that weekend.

This year the international youth rally was in Warsaw. To get there we travelled through Holland, Germany and Poland to get to the site, which was just on the outskirts of the city centre. It took just over 30hours overall, so it wasn’t too bad. The site had a club next to it as well, so the night was spent in there as there was a bowling alley and a dance floor. We were taken round Warsaw on the coach as a tour and we went past places like the Ghetto and big parks and castles and things, which was factual. On other days we could do what we wanted, there was a shopping mall round the corner from the site and a supermarket so you could go to them. Everything in Poland was cheap so you could do loads to keep busy. If anyone has passed their test then I really think you should go on an international when you can because you have such a laugh, and you get to be yourself for a weekend!
YOUTH RALLY HOLLAND 2004
We were all excited about going to
Holland and I don’t think having to wake up early bothered many of us
and it didn’t show on the journey. It was quite quick but then we
almost missed the ferry which was kind of funny. On the other side in
Holland we had quite a journey and the weather was really bad but we
weren’t bothered. We got to Borculo at about 8 o’clock ! 9 o’clock
dutch time ! and once all the tents had been put up we all got ready
for the disco which was brilliantly D.J’d by Andy Wilson from Glasgow
D.A. On Friday ( the second day ) there was a pub crawl in the town
borculo which was about 15 mins walk. It was fun and I think we went
to a total of 6 or 7 bars and If you bought a drink in everyone you
got a free drink at the end. Later on that night was yet another disco
where we all danced a lot ( I think I must’ve danced on stage all
night all weekend ) . The next day was the tour of Zutphen which we
had to get up really really early for. The first thing we did was find
the local MacDonald’s which we all had fun in
J
!! then we just walked around to find a pub and sat in there until it
was time to go back to the campsite.
And then we went to the disco AGAIN!!! and most of us danced on the
stage AGAIN as well. On the last day were the sports on the field
across the road and I think as Great Britain had the most people. We
set up the most teams. One of them is above ! 2 of the players being
from central region. The tug of war was fun as well after most of the
ropes kept snapping. I have another picture of that which is hard to
notice unless you look carefully.
And then surprise surprise after that we
all did some more partying. And we all made the most of it as it was
out last night. My tooth also fell out which was a bit of a set back
as it wouldn’t stop bleeding. Once we had all gone to bed ( if we did
go to bed ) we had to wake up early and pack up. The journey home was
ok as well but a lot of people did sleep through a lot of it. Once we
had said goodbye to the Yorkshire region coach we all settled down to
some food and drink from the service station and relaxed. And then we
all eventually got to pickups and said goodbye to other people from
the region and off home we went to sleep loads. And that was out
international youth rally !!!

For this final weekend of our camping season we were delighted to see an increase in numbers; as well to see our three regular members making a big contribution to the weekends activities.
It was great to welcome Sam and Lauren to the CCY area. They are our newest members and we look forward to seeing more of them next year, along with Grainne who reaches the age of 12 years in January. It was lovely to have Charlie camped with us, as she is usually otherwise occupied as our CCJ leader. (The newly formed CCJ will continue again next season but we felt the size and the nature of this meet was not suitable for setting up a CCJ area) . Poppy set up camp too, alongside regular members Nikki and Harriet - who were well prepared for the busy weekend ahead:
Their first task of the weekend was to play vital roles in the Ghastly Ghost Walk on Friday evening. Harriet was the Ghost (dressed in her mothers wedding gown apparently) and Nikki was the Ghastly! She was so convincing as a victim in the stocks in the 'dungeons' that it wasn't until she emerged afterwards, with her coat covering the dagger and blood, that our younger members realised she wasn't really hurt at all! Charlie was operator of scarey music for the ghost walk. Saturday's job was to raise some money for the youth funds by running a Spooky Bonus Ball. Winners were announced during Sunday's coffee morning.
But the biggest task of the weekend was to get up early Sunday morning to prepare ,cook, and serve full breakfasts to around 150 people! And they were expected to do this after putting much energy into dressing up in Halloween costume, taking part in a hastily rehearsed but fantastic group dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller, then dancing the rest of the evening away! At least they gained an extra hour in bed due to the clocks going back! It was worth it though, because breakfast sales made a substantial profit for the youth funds; which is good news for Nikki and Harriet as some of it will go towards subsidising their trip to Slovakia for next years International Youth Rally.
So- from actresses to fundraisers to dancers to cooks it was a very productive weekend for our youth members.
Thanks also to Assistant Youth Leaders Gary and Geri, to the Parents of our Youth Members, and to Ben and former regular youth member Kim for all their help this weekend.

Central Counties-dancing
Before the weekend of Central Counties a few of the youth went along to some dance classes run by one of our D.A members. Some of the youth already went and invited us as it was on a Saturday when we were at camping. At dancing we joined in and were able to learn a few dances which they were doing. This was fun as we got to practice at the weekends when we met up for D.A camping.
One particular weekend was at Wooton wowen where we had been
practicing these dances and some of the younger D.A. members had
showed an interest and wanted to join in. As we wanted to involve them
we improvised and added bits into the routine to enable the younger
children to participate. On that night for something to do we decided
to put on a little show for the rest of the D.A in the barn. We danced
and people seemed to enjoy watching it. We all thought it went really
well and did not expect the reaction we got from the D.A they loved it
and were overwhelmed at the courage we had to get up and do this dance
in front of them.
The weekend after that it was the central counties weekend, where
there was a big marquee for people to sit in at night and socialise.
On the Saturday night we were asked by some of the adults in our D.A
if we would do the dance in the marquee. Some of us were nervous
because we had never danced in front of so many people before, however
some people were not nervous. We did the dance that we had done the
previous weekend and afterwards we got another good response which we
were extremely pleased about.
As a result of the fantastic response we received on both occasions we now we plan to do more shows for our D.A. We also hope to include more members of the D.A in these routines (possibly some of the men!) for our Halloween weekend.
