42nd National Youth Rally 4th – 6th July 2008Stanhope Show ground County DurhamWell what can I say, a fantastically exhausting weekend was had by all. We started the weekend by heading off in a minibus with 7 of North Warwick's youth members, we also picked up a couple of other central counties youth along the way and met the rest of our region, a very respectable 28 in total, along with the other ten regions in the north east about 4 hours later. Spirits were high throughout the journey and as we set up in the dark, the youth then all raced to the disco to meet up with old and new friends and although the music finished at 11 o’clock the youth did not, partying hard right though til the early hours. Saturday was an early start with the opening ceremony followed by the sports, where we were responsible for organising our region’s teams – 5 aside football, volleyball and netball, with the North Warwick's youth entering into all events enthusiastically, some of which for the first time. However rain stopped play at lunch, which ment a late finish, however well worth the wait as we finished semi finalists in the volleyball, and runners up in both the netball and football, with the mighty Yorkshire reigning supreme (BOOOOOO). We then cooked a well earnt spag bol for our ravenous youth, which went down really well. They then all went off to dress for the nights disco with an army theme, and boy they get into the spirit of things. We could feel another late night coming on. A wet Sunday morning was another early start with the Austin trophy sports, however the rain did not dampen our spirits, as we came a brilliant third in difficult weather conditions. Finally came the closing ceremony and a sad fairwell to friends and a really enjoyable weekend. Our thanks go to North East Region for a well organised weekend, David Wilkes National Youth Chairman and Central Counties RYLO, Paul and Chris Bratt, Coventry Youth Leaders and Karen and Chris, Trent Valley Youth Yeader, but most of all to the YOUTH. They were a real credit to us and we are very proud of them. Andy & Ruth North Warwick's Youth Leaders Here are some of the pics from the 2008 winter youth rally. sponsored by Colliers Land Rover of Erdington Slovakia FICC 2007 Report We arrived at Donnington service station at 1:00am and met up with two of our friends. The coach arrived at around 1:30am and we made sure we had the back seats. We then made our way down to Dover and picked up people from two other regions on the way. Once on the ferry we met up with the other coach from the UK. After the ferry crossing we still had one and a half day of travelling on the road. This journey was very funny as faces were drawn on with permanent marker pens and the boys legs were waxed. When we finally arrived in Slovakia we put our tent up and went for a look around. We were staying in a complex with bars (of course we weren’t drinking!!), hotels and an Aqua park. Shortly after arriving we took part in the opening ceremony. There was a parade with Slovakian dancers and all different countries came together for the opening ceremony. We then went to the disco until 1:00am and started to meet up with new friends. We woke up the following morning at 8:30am and sorted ourselves out. We then went into the town with our friend Claire where we found a supermarket and had a look around. We went back to the complex and just chilled out for the afternoon. That evening we went to Claire’s hotel room to get ready for the Disco. We put on our glad rags and went to the disco where it went on until 2:00am. The next morning we had to get up really early as we were going into Bratislava. We only wanted to go there to get a McDonalds. We had to look at castles on the way to the town, which was very, very boring. The tour guide got muted and abused until we got to where we wanted to go. We then returned back to the complex to get ready for the Saturday night disco, which went on until 3:00am. The next day was when the sports activities took place. First it was the volleyball, which Great Britain won. The volleyball lasted for most of the day and the weather was really nice so it was nice to sit and watch our friends win their matches. After the volleyball it was time for the football matches. One of the Great Britain players was kicked in the face, which added some drama to the match, but he was ok in the end. Italy won the football but it was ok as our friend was put on to play in the last minute of the GB game and scored a great goal – Well Done Pinoc!! After the football we went to get ready for the night’s disco. Yet again we had a brilliant night and the theme for dressing up was Pirates. The disco went on until 4:00am and some of our friends had to leave around this time to catch their flights back home. The next morning we had to get up stupidly early to begin our journey home. It took a while to load everyone’s luggage onto the coach but we were soon on our way home. The coach journey was relaxing as everyone was so tired and before we knew it we arrived back in Rugby at 3:15pm on Tuesday. All in all the week was very eventful and amusing. We had a great time and cannot wait for the next meet. Thanks to everyone involved. Harriet And Nikki
National 2006 CambridgeHarriet and I got on the
mini bus with Dave and Marlene at 5.00pm. We set off up the M 1 to go
and collect people from Donnington service station. We had to collect
3 people who were from Leicester D.A, 4 people from Nottingham D.A and
2 people from Trent Valley D.A.. By the time we got to the camp site
which was at St ive's in Cambridge it was near enough 11 pm. So we had
to put our tent up in the pitch black! In the end Harriet and I got
some boys from our region to help us. We went to bed late that night! By Nikki Wardle Write up for international 2006On Thursday morning we all met up and got on the mini bus together , we were all excited as we had been talking about this weekend for a long time. We stopped off to pick up some other people from our region and saw some old faces that we knew. As we arrived on site on Thursday afternoon there was a lot of people around putting up tents catching up with old friends and greeting new ones. We pitched our tents and got ready for the first night of partying. We all got dressed up and had a great first night which was held in the school hall. Friday we had been given the chance to go to light water valley which was the nearby theme park so we choose to go and had a fun day there just relaxing and going on all the rides, then on the night there was a school disco which went on into the early hours of the morning. Saturday day we went on a coach to York centre, as we was all under age we had no chance of going on a bar crawl so we went on a café crawl! There was another great disco on the night and by this time we were all quite tired. Sunday was a relaxing day and everyone just chilled ready for the final night, we had our final disco which was really good and went on until about 4 in the morning! Monday we had to pack up early and get on the minibus for 11.30, which wasn’t too good as we were running very low on sleep! On the way back most of us slept and talked about the fun times we had that weekend. By Jamie Newton International youth rally ’05- Poland, Warsaw. This year the international youth rally was in Warsaw. To get there we travelled through Holland, Germany and Poland to get to the site, which was just on the outskirts of the city centre. It took just over 30hours overall, so it wasn’t too bad. The site had a club next to it as well, so the night was spent in there as there was a bowling alley and a dance floor. We were taken round Warsaw on the coach as a tour and we went past places like the Ghetto and big parks and castles and things, which was factual. On other days we could do what we wanted, there was a shopping mall round the corner from the site and a supermarket so you could go to them. Everything in Poland was cheap so you could do loads to keep busy. If anyone has passed their test then I really think you should go on an international when you can because you have such a laugh, and you get to be yourself for a weekend! YOUTH RALLY HOLLAND 2004
We were all excited about going to
Holland and I don’t think having to wake up early bothered many of us
and it didn’t show on the journey. It was quite quick but then we
almost missed the ferry which was kind of funny. On the other side in
Holland we had quite a journey and the weather was really bad but we
weren’t bothered. We got to Borculo at about 8 o’clock ! 9 o’clock
dutch time ! and once all the tents had been put up we all got ready
for the disco which was brilliantly D.J’d by Andy Wilson from Glasgow
D.A. On Friday ( the second day ) there was a pub crawl in the town
borculo which was about 15 mins walk. It was fun and I think we went
to a total of 6 or 7 bars and If you bought a drink in everyone you
got a free drink at the end. Later on that night was yet another disco
where we all danced a lot ( I think I must’ve danced on stage all
night all weekend ) . The next day was the tour of Zutphen which we
had to get up really really early for. The first thing we did was find
the local MacDonald’s which we all had fun in
J
!! then we just walked around to find a pub and sat in there until it
was time to go back to the campsite. Article kindly written by a NWDA member Fiona Bachelor Thanks

Central Counties-dancing
Before the weekend of Central Counties a few of the youth went along to some dance classes run by one of our D.A members. Some of the youth already went and invited us as it was on a Saturday when we were at camping. At dancing we joined in and were able to learn a few dances which they were doing. This was fun as we got to practice at the weekends when we met up for D.A camping.
One particular weekend was at Wooton wowen where we had been
practicing these dances and some of the younger D.A. members had
showed an interest and wanted to join in. As we wanted to involve them
we improvised and added bits into the routine to enable the younger
children to participate. On that night for something to do we decided
to put on a little show for the rest of the D.A in the barn. We danced
and people seemed to enjoy watching it. We all thought it went really
well and did not expect the reaction we got from the D.A they loved it
and were overwhelmed at the courage we had to get up and do this dance
in front of them.
The weekend after that it was the central counties weekend, where
there was a big marquee for people to sit in at night and socialise.
On the Saturday night we were asked by some of the adults in our D.A
if we would do the dance in the marquee. Some of us were nervous
because we had never danced in front of so many people before, however
some people were not nervous. We did the dance that we had done the
previous weekend and afterwards we got another good response which we
were extremely pleased about.
As a result of the fantastic response we received on both occasions we now we plan to do more shows for our D.A. We also hope to include more members of the D.A in these routines (possibly some of the men!) for our Halloween weekend.
